Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Surgical Patient Care Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse to assist patients with daily living activities and support treatment plans in accordance with established policies and procedures. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care.

Work Schedule for Casual Positions: Casual employees will have flexible work hours but must commit to a minimum of 48 hours monthly, with at least 24 hours worked on weekends and an annual requirement of 24 hours on holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • (50%) Collaborate with the nursing staff to prioritize and manage care for assigned patients, performing essential nursing aide tasks as per orientation and competency guidelines.
  • (25%) Accurately document patient information, treatment procedures, and observations. Communicate effectively with the care team regarding tasks completed.
  • (25%) Ensure the unit is clean, safe, and orderly, maintaining a supportive environment for patients and staff.

Required Certifications and Licenses:

  • PCT: MidMichigan Health PCT/CNA/EMT/LPN Certification or equivalent, such as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification, or completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program.
  • BLS: Basic Life Support certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • Team Advanced: Techniques for Effective Aggression Management training to be completed within 6 months of hire.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support and uphold the mission, goals, policies, and standards of nursing and the medical center.
  • Recognize and implement unit policies and work rules.
  • Attend to the age-specific needs of patients according to departmental standards.
  • Respond to emergency situations according to medical center procedures.
  • Provide and maintain a safe environment for patients.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows is necessary; further training may be provided as required.
