Position Type: Before/After School/Elementary Daily CoverageDate Posted: 7/1/2024Location: District-Wide ALL LocationsAfternoon Shift/After-School Program JOB GOAL: To assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, after-school staff and other team members in providing educational benefits for students during the latter portion of the traditional school day and during the district's after-school program, daily until 5:00pm. HOURS: School days, generally 11:00am - 5:00pm. WORK SITE: Elementary schools - Brooks, Roberts, Missituk, McGlynn ES. SCHOOL DAY RESPONSIBILITIES (11:30am - 2:30pm): 1. Develops and implement instructional plans under the supervision of licensed personnel during the traditional school day, generally during the latter portion of the school day. 2. Provides/adapts classroom instruction, activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher (e.g. Discrete Trial Training, Job Coaching, ABA data management). 3. Monitors work, scores papers, student work and assessments, and supervises curriculum-based testing and makeup work as assigned by the licensed staff. 4. Serves as a source of information and help to substitute teachers assigned in the absence of the regular licensed staff. 5. May substitute for absent teacher, with pay differential consistent with contract. 6. Performs clerical tasks, classroom tasks, and instructional duties as assigned by the licensed staff. 7. Alerts the licensed staff to any problem or special information about an individual student. 8. Performs assigned supervision of students during lunch periods, play periods, and on field trips. 9. Performs assigned non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack time, toileting, and clothing routines. 10. Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and community. 11. Participates in in-service training programs as approved. 12. Maintains a safe working environment and encourages colleagues to be safety minded in the performance of all school-related duties. 13. Performs other such duties / assignments as directed by the licensed staff, within the scope of job description. 14. Assists as directed by certified staff in the effort to successfully maintain students with special needs in an integrated setting, as determined by the IEP. Performs other duties as requested by the building principal, the Coordinator of Special Education, or the Director of Pupil Services, within the scope of job description. AFTER-SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITIES (2:30pm - 6:00pm): 1. Assist Site Coordinator and Group Leader in carrying out the daily schedule 2. Assist in carrying out daily activities and schedule, as appropriate 3. Adhere to hand hygiene and standard universal precautions guidelines 4. Assist with set up and clean up of daily snack 5. Assist with maintenance of afterschool space, including cleaning of surfaces, toys and bins as appropriate 6. Assist in communicating effectively with parents/guardians and referring to Group Leader or Site Coordinator, as appropriate 7. Assist with midyear Progress Reports 8. Interact in a professional, cooperative way with school day personnel and other afterschool staff; maintain the spirit of team player 9. Accept and follow through with responsibilities in a positive manner 10. Attend and participate in staff meetings, two hours monthly 11. Complete annual Self Evaluation and reflect on strengths and areas of growth 12. Complete the required number of professional development hours on a yearly basis based on the number of hours worked per week 13. Adhere to program policies as outlined in the After School Staff Handbook specifically with respect to attendance, dress code, and cell phone use 14. Notify Site Coordinator and Before / After School office in case of absence 15. Other duties as assigned by Group Leader and Site Coordinator Preferred Qualifications include: Minimum of High School diploma and experience working with school-aged children Ongoing commitment to professional development Possess initiative toward the goal of continuous program improvement First Aid and preferably CPR training
