THE POSITION
The Department of Transportation is on the lookout for candidates to fill a Survey Technician role. This entry-level position involves engaging in technical tasks as part of a survey team, where you will play a crucial role in the operation of both manual and electronic equipment. Your work will contribute to various types of surveys, including preliminary assessments, right-of-way evaluations, engineering projects, bridge inspections, construction oversight, as well as land and property surveys. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will operate with a high degree of independence, making field-based decisions regarding the placement and documentation of controlling and topographical points. For more intricate and atypical challenges, the employee will consult with the technical supervisor, who is responsible for reviewing the work to ensure it meets the required standards of completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established technical and performance criteria.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment
+ Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
+ This position may require working in inclement conditions
+ Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ One year of experience as an Engineering Technician; or
+ Three years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments; or
+ One year of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associate's degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
Conditions of Employment:
+ This position will require possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
