COMPENSATION
Salary Range:
Surveyor 2: Min. $81,235 - Max $102,306
Surveyor 3: Min. $89,502 - Max. $114,067
RESPONSIBILITIES:
These positions will carefully and diligently perform all phases of field surveying including Construction Stakeout, Topographical Surveys, Responsibilities will include but not limited to conducting field calculations and sketches; downloading and checking data while being held accountable for accuracy of all survey documents. Maintain and take care of all company equipment and vehicles and ensuring setup is in a secure environment with proper safety precautions in place.
Positively represent the department while communicating professionally with upper management and co-workers.
Other duties as assigned and stand/walk for 8+ hours a day, Exposure to all weather conditions: hot, cold, wet, humid, or other conditions caused by weather.
Field work is often performed on busy railroad tracks or construction sites, shall have ability and desire to expand your skill sets and adapt to new technologies, shall possess a valid driver's license.
Ability to work overtime as needed, Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Other duties may require doing other department tasks as assigned including but not limited to are learning Micro Station CAD software and create track layouts with alignment and profile information.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in surveying, surveying
engineering, surveying engineering technology or in similar surveying-related
majors, and two years of full-time satisfactory land surveying experience;
OR
2. An associate degree from an accredited college in the surveying-related majors
listed in 1 above, and four years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in 1 above;
OR
3. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of fulltime satisfactory experience as described in 1 above;
AND
4. A motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
Surveyor 2:
In addition to meeting the Qualification Requirements for Assignment Level I - A
above, to be assigned to Assignment Level II, individuals must have two (2) additional years of experience for a minimum of four years of full-time satisfactory experience as described under Qualification Requirement 1 above
Surveyor 3:
In addition to meeting the Qualification Requirements for Assignment Level I - A above, to be assigned to Assignment Level III, individuals must have three additional years of experience for a minimum of five years of full-time satisfactory experience as described under Qualification Requirement 1 above and must meet the License Requirements described below.
Registration as a New York State Land Surveyor is required for appointment to Assignment Level III. To be assigned to officially sign off on land surveying work, a Surveyor - Assignment Level II must be a registered New York State Land Surveyor. This registration must be maintained for the duration of the employment
DESIRED SKILLS:
+ Experience working with Micro station CAD software.
+ Knowledge of track geometry and layouts.
