Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Technical Manager, the Synthesis Chemist will use knowledge of epoxy and other specialized chemistries to assist in research and process development on given materials to determine compliance, specifications, and properties. Use knowledge of chemical synthesis, testing, analytical methods, and application testing for the development of new products and processes. Work to improve existing products and processes.

Duties:

• Lab Work
• Conduct research and process development throughout all product lines including Epoxy Curing Agents, Resins and Polymers Chemistries
• Plan appropriate testing procedures to meet research project parameters and deadlines including Design of Experiments, developing application test methods.
• Conduct research on given materials to determine specifications and properties.
• Assist with the scale-up and production runs of new products and materials with operating personnel.
• Timely upkeep and reporting of test documentation, research records and progress reports or findings.
• Production and Sales
• Provide data for Sales and customers.
• Provide support and resolution for production difficulties with in-process batches and raw materials.
• Recommend new or changed procedures and equipment technology and processes.
• Safety Culture
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality procedures.
• Enforce and observe all company rules and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Requires an advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science.
• Requires 5+ years synthesis lab experience.
• Requires a knowledge of Epoxy or Polymer Chemistries pertaining to Palmer products and/or target markets.
• Requires knowledge of various analytical laboratory techniques.
• Requires expert knowledge of safe Chemical lab techniques and production processes.

• Works with confidential data such as products, compounds, and processes which, if disclosed might have significant external negative effect.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Able to work in R&D laboratory or QC laboratory.
