Classified - Position - Other, please specify Job Number 460####### Start Date Open Date 02/04/2025 Closing Date Job Title: System Administrator Department: Information Technology Reports To: Supervisor of Information Technology Location: Robertson County Schools, Springfield, Tennessee Position Type: Full-Time Job Summary: The System Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the school district's network infrastructure, servers, and computer systems. This role ensures the availability, performance, and security of the IT environment to support the district's educational and administrative functions. The System Administrator works closely with the IT team, educators, and administrative staff to provide technical support and implement technology solutions that enhance the learning experience. Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Management: Configure, maintain, and monitor the district's network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Server Administration: Manage and maintain physical and virtual servers, ensuring regular updates, backups, and security measures are in place.
  • User Support: Provide technical support to staff and students, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and assist with technology-related inquiries.
  • Security: Implement and maintain security protocols to protect the district's IT assets, including antivirus software, firewalls, and data encryption.
  • System Updates: Ensure that all systems and applications are up to date with the latest patches and updates.
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, procedures, and network diagrams.
  • Training: Conduct training sessions for staff and students on the use of technology and best practices for cybersecurity.
  • Project Management: Participate in IT projects, including the planning, implementation, and evaluation of modern technologies and systems.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in system administration or a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or similar.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, Group Policy, and network infrastructure.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other IT staff, educators, and administrative personnel.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to the evolving needs of the school district.
Working Conditions:
  • Environment: Primarily works in an office setting; may occasionally work in classrooms and server rooms.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds; may require prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Schedule: Full-time position with occasional evening or weekend work for maintenance and upgrades.
