Position Type: Technology/System Administrator Date Posted: 2/20/2025 Location: Districtwide Date Available: 07/01/2025 Closing Date: Open until filled Position: System Administrator Location: Technology Department Hours: 8 hours/day Duration: 12 month position - 261 days Start Date: July 1, 2025 Summary: This position is responsible for the planning, analysis, design, security, implementation, and support of the district's enterprise-wide systems, including WAN, LAN, WLAN, VLAN, server infrastructure, applications, storage, backup, and disaster recovery. This role ensures a safe and secure environment for network users and systems across all district locations, supporting approximately 6,500 students and 1,000 staff. Specific Responsibilities:
- Plan, analyze, design, secure, and support the district's enterprise-wide systems, including WAN, LAN, WLAN, VLAN, server infrastructure, storage, security, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Manage core network and cloud services, including Active Directory, Rapid Identity, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace services.
- Manage network storage, physical and virtual servers, MS System Center, and associated operating systems and software (Windows Server, SCCM, Microsoft SQL Server, virtual environment, VMWare, etc.).
- Ensure critical systems are properly backed up and disaster recovery plans are executable.
- Administer and maintain all user accounts, organizational units, and group policies in Microsoft Active Directory and Rapid Identity (IDP).
- Administer Microsoft System Center (SCCM) for OS deployment, image creation, and Windows Update.
- Administer, maintain, update/upgrade other network solutions such as district-wide print service, Destiny, etc.
- Manage and maintain security strategies such as group policies, spam filters, internet content filtering, antivirus, endpoint protection, and reporting.
- Identify risks and recommend actions to mitigate security threats.
- Maintain current awareness of emerging information, trends, and applications in network technology.
- Participate in appropriate professional development groups and activities.
- Coordinate and assist in the deployment of new technology equipment.
- Provide telephone, on-site, and remote support for network, workstation, and peripheral equipment issues.
- Assist/consult with staff on available technical tools.
- Interface with vendor support in the research and purchase of technology.
- Work collaboratively on technology department-related projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years experience in information technology management.
- Proven experience working with current tools and best practices in the management and deployment of enterprise solutions. (Windows server and Active Directory, VMware, enterprise data backup, web content filtering, Windows computer management and imaging).
- Extensive background and experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting problems in a multi-location and complex LAN/WAN environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Proven success with project and task management.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree with an emphasis in information or technology management.
- Previous training and industry vendor certifications (Microsoft, VMware, Google).
- Demonstrated experience in the areas below:
- System and network infrastructure in an enterprise environment.
- Physical and virtual server infrastructure (Microsoft servers, etc.) and applications
- Network security implementations (intrusion prevention, content filtering, and other security-related systems).
- Network storage
- Cloud-based solutions e.g. Google Apps for Education, Microsoft Azure, AWS, etc.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery
