Position SummaryAs a System Engineer III (or Systems Administrator III) at VGM Forbin, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex IT systems for a diverse range of clients. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will develop functional applications, databases, and networks tailored to meet the specific needs of both VGM Forbin and its clients. Your role includes determining the hardware and software requirements to support various computing functions, installing and configuring new systems, and rigorously testing for bugs and errors before deploying new features.You will develop automated scripts to enhance system efficiency and facilitate seamless communication among team members regarding technical developments. As part of a talented team of professionals, you will demonstrate exceptional technical competency and serve as the top-tier support escalation point.   • Set up and manage operating systems, hardware, and software on client and server machines, including cloud environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Proactively monitor all systems and infrastructure using advanced tools.
  • Install and maintain operating systems and applications for optimal performance and security.
  • Ensure maximum uptime through proactive maintenance and monitoring.
  • Identify and fix performance bottlenecks in collaboration with development teams.
  • Implement security protocols, backups, and redundancy systems following best practices.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to enhance efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
  • Assist in designing and implementing support systems and integrating new technologies.
  • Provide Tier 3 support and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Liaise with vendors and IT professionals to resolve issues and improve integration.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies to introduce innovative solutions.
Position QualificationsQualified systems engineers will have a background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.Education/Experience:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering or system administration.
  • Microsoft Technologies: Proficient with Windows Server environments and services. Experience with cluster server environments preferred.
  • Active Directory & Group Policies: Experience managing Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and domain services.
  • Office 365 Administration: Experience managing and supporting Office 365 environments.
  • UNIX/Linux Expertise: Proven experience installing and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux systems.
  • Application Stack Admin: Skilled with modern stacks (e.g., NGINX, Apache, Django).
  • Cloud Experience: Proficient with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Virtualization: Experienced with Hyper-V and VMware.
  • Experience with using Monitoring Tools.
  • Automation Skills: Proficient in automating tasks using various tools.
  • Scripting Abilities: Strong in Bash, Python, CMD, or PowerShell scripting.
  • Networking Knowledge: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Switches, VLANs, and Firewalls.
  • Security Best Practices: Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and compliance standards.
  • Disaster Recovery: Experience with backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
Physical Requirements:
  • Operation of office equipment and using technology efficiently such as computers, phones, misc. office equipment.
  • Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision.
  • Moving throughout the VGM facilities when needed.
