Job Title: System and Software Safety Engineer
Career Level: We have two levels to fill-
Bachelors Degree in Science/Engineering or related field with a minimum of 10 years experience OR Masters Degree in Science/Engineering or related field with a minimum of 7 years of increasingly responsible roles in the development and integration of large-scale Command & Control, and Battle Management Systems.
Advanced degree and 3+ years' experience OR bachelors with 5+ years' experience or equivalent; wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in their field and provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems with imaginative and thorough solutions; works under general direction, and results are reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives; failure to achieve results normally results in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources; frequent internal and external customer contacts and represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.

Required Qualifications:
- System Engineering background with specialization in System and Software Safety.
- Experience analyzing design to ensure safety requirements are met.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to analyze and recommend design features that meet safety criteria in system design to control or eliminate hazards.
- Experience developing safety documents to support customer and test requirements (SAR, SRA, SSPP).
- Experience with hazard identification.
- Experience participating in System Safety Working Groups.
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-882E.
- System engineering and software systems engineering experience in developing new and integrating existing systems.
- Ability to analyze high-level needs and refine them into an integrated set of hardware and software.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
- Final SECRET clearance required; TS clearance desired.
- Ability to get TS/SCI Clearance.
Skills Required:
- Identification and definition of desired capabilities.
- Modeling the interrelationships between internal and external components.
- Communicating the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.
- Generating system/element level functional, performance, and interface specifications to document and control the achievement of the desired capabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles, and techniques.
Responsibilities:
- System Safety engineering and development of program safety plans to provide the engineering team with application of safety policies and guidance.
- Support to MDA and other program personnel as required, as well as other system engineering tasks.
- Interface with team members and National Team management to ensure high-quality products are generated on time and within available resources.
- Integration of product lines (BM, C2, Networks).
- Generation of responsible sections of the capability specifications.
- Training less experienced personnel in SE and Safety techniques.
- Reviewing the content and details of technical products.
- Acting as a technical interface to MDA working-level counterparts on an as-required basis.
- Independently complete Safety analysis including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), and support incorporating updates into existing Safety Analysis Reports (SARs).
- Support System Safety Requirements Analysis, including customer coordination for safety impact and safety criticality for all requirements.
- Heavily integrated in the I&T process to ensure all Safety Critical DTAPS stay on schedule and support both internally for C2BMC Safety Team and the customer, BCQS reviews.
Additional Requirements:
- Some travel between Colorado Springs and Huntsville, Alabama.
