- JOB SUMMARY
- Working under the supervision of the IST Systems Manager, the Systems Administrator III will maintain and support various mission critical infrastructure from a design and support prospective. Will provide advanced support for operating system environments, applications, hardware, data center environments, etc. Will work directly with all Systems Administrators to provide mentoring and assist in troubleshooting tickets in a timely manner. The Systems Administrator III will also work with all members of the IST department to assist with the design of new application installs, and upgrades, systems infrastructure installs and upgrades, disaster recovery planning and testing. Other duties as assigned.
- DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
- Interface directly with all Systems Administrators to resolve and document hardware and software troubleshooting tickets, bug reports and errors.
- Provide immediate, direct customer support and troubleshooting help to end users through email, telephone and personal communication.
- Design, manage, deploy hardware upgrades, software updates, security patches and other necessary items on an as-needed basis.
- Design, manage, and support complex infrastructure environments.
- Advanced understanding of networking, storage area network, firewalls, load balancers, and virtualization technologies.
- Supports mission critical systems and infrastructures.
- Provides expert level troubleshooting across multiple disciplines, applications, and technical groups in order to address issues that arise.
- Advanced understanding of networking, storage, systems, application interactions.
- Advanced understanding of active directory, exchange, and group policy.
- Advanced understanding of application virtualization technologies
- Advanced understanding of data center design, cabling, and redundancy technologies.
- Must work with project manager on complex hardware and software installations and upgrades.
- Collaborate with other systems administrators and IST leadership to improve processes and increase automation.
- Serve as a technical advisor to IST leadership as well as the organization's users, professionals, and maintains open positive communication with clients.
- Provide on-call and after-hours technical support during scheduled rotations.
- Required to work and support after hours' monthly downtimes if appropriate.
- Must follow all established KDHS security policies and procedures.
- EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum requirement:
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or information Technology with at least 4 years of experience in infrastructure management and design or 8 - 10 years of real world experience with enterprise level infrastructure management and design.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
