Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and self-sufficient Systems Administrator to support and manage enterprise-level systems. This includes overseeing the installation, configuration, performance, and operation of Microsoft Servers, IIS, and SQL. The role involves ensuring system reliability and security, handling system upgrades and patches, and offering technical support both during regular hours and on-call. The Systems Administrator will play a crucial part in maintaining high availability and disaster recovery, all while making key decisions in critical situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Support & Maintenance: Provide expert-level support for enterprise systems, including file/print services, SQL, SharePoint, and Active Directory, ensuring uptime and optimal performance.
  • Monitoring & Incident Response: Continuously monitor business and clinical applications, server metrics (CPU, disk usage, DNS, latency), and implement alerts to manage system health and respond to incidents.
  • Active Directory Management: Oversee Active Directory, including accounts, security groups, policies, and shared directories, ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • User Support: Provide technical assistance and resolve issues for users across operating systems and applications.
  • Patching & Updates: Manage monthly system patching and updates, ensuring all critical patches are applied and systems remain secure.
  • Enterprise Applications: Install, configure, and support enterprise applications in a high-availability, multi-data center environment.
  • Data Security & Backup: Ensure data protection, regular backups, and adherence to disaster recovery plans. Maintain backup systems and test their integrity.
  • Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with IT professionals, vendors, and contractors to manage system installations, updates, and maintenance, ensuring seamless integration.
  • Process Improvement: Lead efforts to develop monitoring processes and contribute to application updates and system enhancements.
  • Project Management: Develop work plans, track project progress, and contribute to organizational goals, while ensuring all tasks are completed on time.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in Microsoft system administration, troubleshooting, and maintaining enterprise-level systems such as SQL, SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange, and Active Directory.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex systems issues and support users with critical technical decisions.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with team members, management, and external partners to resolve issues and drive projects forward.
  • Time Management: Capable of managing time effectively with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks and adapting to changes in priorities.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable with changing business requirements and able to contribute to both short-term and long-term IT planning.
  • On-Call Support: Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, including responding to after-hours issues and performing system patches during designated maintenance windows.

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience: 3-5 years working in an IT systems infrastructure environment, with experience in a multi-domain, enterprise-level setting.
  • Technical Expertise: At least 3 years of experience with server-class hardware, storage systems, and Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Software Administration: Experience administering Microsoft SQL (2005, 2008, 2012), Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Leadership: Proven experience liaising between IT departments and business teams, managing expectations and project timelines.

Education & Certifications:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications: Microsoft System Administration certification or equivalent experience.
