MIKEL is committed to providing an environment that challenges its employees to use and advance their skills and knowledge to provide solutions that exceed customer expectations.Position: Systems Engineer IIThis candidate will provide technical support pertaining to the Ohio-class submarine Life Cycle Support Center (LCSF). These services will support NUWC Code 25 projects associated with Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems (NPES) and its subsystems associated with Ohio-class SSBNs and SSGNs. The candidate will be required to manage/update the lab testing schedule and provide technical support with diagrams, cabling, and functionality related to tactical and functional equivalent equipment locally. The candidate shall manage/update the lab schedule and distribute it to internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of modernized BYG-1 Combat Control System and peripherals is required, specifically in reference to the Automatic Information System AN/URN-31(V)9 or similar configurations.The candidate is expected to have a strong skill set in computer-based programs such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerApps. A derivative of this exposure is developing a well-rounded, advanced knowledge of systems administration, network administration, software and hardware troubleshooting, and process documentation. Responsibilities
  • Provide lab test event support for applicable Ohio-class Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems, Modernized SWFTS subsystems within BYG-1 CCS, and associated peripherals in LCSF lab space.
  • Support and conduct Development Testing (D.T.) and Engineering Measurements Testing (EMT), including assisting in developing test procedures and scenarios, test conduct, execution, analysis, and PTR reporting. Test Development includes, but is not limited to, subsystem receipt inspection, integration testing, New Refit Procedure (NRP) updates, etc.
  • Upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of the BYG-1 CCS and associated peripheral systems within the Ohio Life Cycle Support Facility.
  • Participation in System Engineering and Test and evaluation Programmatic milestones, including input to OHIO Lab Readiness Reviews (LRR), Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), System Operability Capstone (SOPc) testing, System Level Testing (SLTs), and Production Test Program (PTP) testing.
  • Perform and track OHIO lab Work requests and distribute Work Request Databases.
  • Manage and update program-specific databases with technical information, accurately representing configurations of lab space.
  • Ability to learn, maintain, and troubleshoot complex systems of systems and communications within the system of systems, including but not limited to serial communications, networking, R.F.s, and Synchros.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation, including but not limited to Interface Design Documents, One-Function Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Hardware Requirement Documents, Software Requirement Documents, and System Specifications
  • Perform and assist in test, test conduct, analysis, and reporting activities with related working groups and organizations.
  • Provide technical and administrative support for scheduling Lab events with the Test & Evaluation Engineering lead. Support will include collaborating with internal and external stakeholders from various projects and programs attempting to schedule testing time in local NUWC LCSF (Life Cycle Support Center - OHIO-class Submarine
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Strong experience with AN/BYG-1 Systems: PCS, TCS, AIS, VMS, OHIO-class Legacy Launchers (MK92, MK96, TWS, TTCP), and applicable NPES systems.
  • Operation and technical knowledge of NPES and peripherals of OHIO-class.
  • Analytical ability to define problems, collect necessary data, establish facts, and take recommended action based upon applicable established guidelines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • The travel requirement is 10% within the program.
