About New York Cares

New York Cares exists to turn passion into action, leverage resources through partnership, and create long-lasting change across New York City. We've become the City's leading volunteer management organization by adapting and responding to our most pressing community needs – from everyday challenges like food insecurity and educational inequity to relief efforts in response to 9/11 and the COVID-19 pandemic. As we grow our team, we are committed to creating a workforce that reflects the communities we serve, and fostering a workplace where every employee feels valued, finds a place of belonging, and brings their authentic self to work.

About the TALENT TEAM

On the surface the Talent Team does administrative work to keep the employees of New York Cares paid, safe, and productive. Beneath that surface sit the unseen efforts that heavily influence the culture of New York Cares from the inside out. In addition to processing payroll, facilitating onboarding and offboarding, and managing employee benefits, the Talent Team is setting a tone for a culture of growth. From influencing organizational strategy to sourcing best-in-class professional development opportunities for staff, the Talent Team has an outsized impact on the future of New York Cares and the employees.

About The Talent Specialist

New York Cares is seeking a Talent Specialist to contribute to the high-quality execution of the administrative processes. The Specialist will support talent in processing payroll, administering employee benefits, and liaise with other departments for recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes. • Manage recruitment efforts in coordination with department directors and senior leadership, which involves drafting job descriptions, promoting and advertising open positions, reviewing resumes, coordinating interviews, conducting reference and background checks, and drafting offer letters.
  • Conduct periodic scans of industry standards and best practices in Talent management and develop proactive recommendations for integration of appropriate practices e.g. compensation and benefits survey to determine market competitive rates
  • Identify, recommend and implement operational improvements to streamline Talent processes and procedures, such as the employee handbook
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and city regulatory laws, guidelines and standards within necessary and multiple timelines
  • Work at least two days in the office with our flexible hybrid schedule.
