Summary:
As a director specializing in tax within our public accounting firm, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success and growth of our tax practice. You will lead a team of professionals, providing strategic direction, technical expertise, and exceptional client service. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tax-related tasks, including client management, business development, staff supervision, and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients, understanding their needs, objectives, and challenges.Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services to clients, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and optimizing tax efficiency.Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.Provide guidance and support to staff members, assisting them in their professional development and career advancement.Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide constructive feedback to team members.Quality Assurance:
Ensure the highest standards of quality and professionalism in all tax engagements.Review workpapers, financial statements, and tax returns prepared by team members, providing feedback and guidance as needed.Stay abreast of changes in tax laws, accounting standards, and industry trends, ensuring compliance and best practices.Establish tax policies that standardize procedures and processes to ensure that individuals and teams are at the most efficient and productive.Project Management:
Lead projects within tax ensuring all projects are delivered on time within the scope and budget.Plan out projects and ensure tasks are assigned with clarity.Develop and implement accountability measures.Business Development:
Drive business development initiatives to expand the firm's client base and revenue streams.Cultivate and nurture relationships with existing clients, identifying opportunities for additional services and cross-selling firm offerings.Actively participate in networking events, industry conferences, and professional organizations to enhance the firm's visibility and reputation.Education and Experience Requirements:
CPA license is required; advanced degree in Taxation or Accounting is preferred.10 years' experience in public accounting, with a focus on tax services. With 5 or more years of experience managing teams.Proven track record of successfully managing client relationships and leading teams.Strong technical expertise in tax planning, compliance, and auditing principles.Proficient with various tax and accounting software, Microsoft Office products.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, capable of driving business growth and achieving financial targets.Demonstrated leadership abilities, including coaching, mentoring, and developing talent.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.Some travel required.Other duties
