DutiesAs a Tax Examining Clerk/Technician your duties include but are not limited to:
This position is considered seasonal, typically 4-6 months or 6-8 months, and may be extended. At the end of an employee's work schedule, they are placed in non-pay status and may be recalled to duty as workload or budget dictates and in accordance with their seasonal employment agreement.
This position has career progression. If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses. For example, you may be hired as a GS-04, but if the position has career progression to GS-06, then you may move from a GS-04 to a GS-06 in as little as two (2) years.
Qualifications
Federal experience is not required to qualify for any of the grade levels identified below. You will qualify for one of the following opportunities based on your specialized experience and/or education.
Experience for the GS-04 grade level
General experience for this position includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the competencies needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. This may be paid or non-paid experience.
OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Two (2) years of education above the high school level in an accredited junior college, college, university, business, secretarial, or technical school.
OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
Specialized Experience for the GS-05 grade level
You must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience that is in or related to this position and provided you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Examples of qualifying experience include experience performing a variety of miscellaneous tasks involving researching and processing financial documents, reviewing information and determining corrective action on accounts, researching for missing/unclear accounting information, and reviewing financial documents submitted for completeness.
OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: four (4) years of education above high school in any field of study from an accredited college or university.
OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
