Position: Teacher - Floater ProgramBronx Early Learning CenterReports ToAssistant Director - Curriculum & InstructionFLSA StatusExemptPosition CodeBLC515Date Approved by Human ResourcesJanuary 1, 2021 Summary:Implement instruction based on The Creative Curriculum and Prekindergarten Performance Standards, NYC aligned with children's Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objective. Adhere to the professional standards recommended by the National Association for the Education of Young Children to maintain accreditation.Minimum Qualifications:M.S. in Special Education. New York State teacher certification in Special Education K-12 (prior to February 2004) or initial or professional certification in Students with Disabilities, Birth-Grade 2. Supervisory Role:This position does have supervisory responsibilities.Principal Responsibilities:The below enumerated principal responsibilities are inclusive of both program specific and firm-wide related administration, as applicable.
Substitutes for classroom teacher as assigned by education director or designee.Implement The Creative Curriculum and ensure that the National Association for the Education of Young Children standards are reflected in classroom instruction.Follow and implement existing lesson plans prepared by the permanent classroom teacher.Prepare weekly lesson plans following The Creative Curriculum format if placed in the same classroom for more than a week.Supervise the activities and assignment of the teacher assistants with individual children or groups of children in classroom.Follow teacher job description if assigned to the same classroom for more than one week.Assess individual students using assessment tools used by program.Implement the policies and procedures contained in the Early Learning Center manuals.Perform other related duties as requested.Expected Results of Principal Responsibilities:Classroom staffing ratio mandate is maintained.Learning and growth are promoted.Activities are scheduled regularly and children's needed are met.Activities are developmentally appropriate and consistent with Creative Curriculum philosophy.Staff are appropriately supervised.Responsibilities of classroom teacher will be followed regarding compliance with NYC, State and Federal guidelines, data outcomes and parent contact.Maintain compliance with CPSE mandates.EnsureWork Environment:While performing the duties of the job, the employee will be in a classroom and school environment.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to have visual acuity, talk and hear while communicating with peers and/or vendors. This position is active and requires movement in the classroom and in the school environment.
