  • Provide quality instruction in a two-year dual-credit program, both theoretical and practical, aligned with the State of Illinois requirement to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Understand and teach the following dual-credit courses through Illinois Central College, leading toward a Certified Nursing Assistant certificate:
    • Human Biology (gross structure and basic functioning of the human body)
      • Levels of organization in the body
      • Support and movement/body systems
      • Integration and coordination/body systems
      • Transport systems in the body
      • Absorption, excretion, and life cycle in the body
    • Nursing Assistant Training
      • Introduction to long-term care
      • Responsibilities in the health care environment
      • Basic nursing care
      • Meeting individualized patient needs
    • Nurse Assistant: Alzheimer's Disease (an introduction to the study of dementia)
  • Medical Terminology (terminology used in all areas of medical and paramedical specialties)
    • Word building
    • Spelling and pronunciation
    • Inquiry and understanding
    • Written and electronic medical resources
  • Introduction to Interdisciplinary Health Care
    • First Aid/CPR
    • Foundational skills in healthcare
    • Anatomy and physiology
    • Career evaluation
    • Universal health care skills
    • Legal and ethical issues in health care

  • Provide continuous evaluation on an ongoing basis to students, offering constructive feedback to students to help them improve their skills.
  • Implement the policies and procedures in place for the school.
  • Maintain safe and sanitary practices followed for all students, instructors, and guests.
  • Maintain student records and other paperwork associated with the course.
  • Teach to all levels of student abilities and adjust subject matter as required.
  • Project a professional image at all times.

KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILLS:
  • Knowledge of skill-building courses, including the fundamental concepts, knowledge, safety protocols, and hands-on techniques and skills needed for a variety of health occupations careers.
  • A commitment to educating students in the health occupations field, providing students with the knowledge, skills, and attitude needed for success in health-related careers.
  • Familiarity with and experience in health occupations, with an emphasis on hands-on training, providing students with real life experiences in health occupations fields.

Ability to work effectively with a team. Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate with endorsements in their subject area registered with the Peoria County Regional Office of Education.
