Role Overview:As a substitute Behavior Aide/Paraprofessional, you'll provide vital support to special education students and teachers on a temporary basis, filling in when needed. You'll assist both individually and in groups, helping to enhance the students' learning experiences and adapt to their unique needs.
Competitive hourly rate of $21-$24, paid weekly
Flexible schedule
No weekend work required
Typical hours: Varies between 8am to 2:30/3pm, for a total of 5-7 hours per shift
Key Responsibilities:
Behavioral Support:Help implement and oversee behavioral intervention plans (BIPs), provide positive reinforcement, and use de-escalation techniques to support student needs.
Individualized Support:Deliver personalized, one-on-one or small group assistance to special education students, adapting teaching materials to meet their specific needs.
Classroom Assistance:Assist teachers in managing classroom behaviors, encouraging active participation, and creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Data Collection:Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviors, using this data to inform and adjust support strategies.
Communication:Work closely with teachers, parents, and school staff to ensure effective communication and a cohesive approach to supporting students.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
High School Diploma
Experience working with children
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to stay calm and patient in challenging situations
English proficiency
Preferred:
Experience in special education, particularly with moderate to severe behaviors
Bachelor's Degree
Knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies
CPR and First Aid certification
