Qualifications:High School Diploma Paraprofessional training preferred Experience in school setting preferred Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both orally and through written expression Must complete required health examinations and immunizations Must pass required criminal history background check Provide proof of U. S. citizenship or legal resident status Possess basic technological skills as required by position Job Goals:Provide and/or maintain an environment favorable to learning, personal growth, personal safety, and well-being Establish rapport with pupils, guide pupils so that they develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a foundation for continued growth Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with other staff members and members of the school community at large Sensitive to and respectful of the diverse backgrounds, characteristics, preferences, and beliefs of the members of the school community Act as an ethical role model portraying integrity, good judgment, discretion, and positive character attributes Performance Responsibilities:Responsible for the safety and well-being of students Uphold and enforce school rules, Board policies, federal and state laws Communicate professionally within the school community Demonstrates awareness of normal intellectual and social/emotional development within the educational setting Demonstrates awareness of how exceptional conditions affect student life, their family, school, and community Displays sensitivity and respect for diverse backgrounds and how the affect students' life and learning Follows oral and written directions and seeks clarification from the teacher Supports and reinforces the instruction based on student needs and student responses to instruction Follows all IEP modifications as directed by the teacher Demonstrates ability to support a safe, healthy, and effective learning environment Prepares and organizes materials to support teaching and learning Establishes rapport and maintains respectful relationships with students Demonstrates ability to support individual student behavior plans Demonstrates ability to communicate with and respond to students' families as appropriate Demonstrates ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues Provides toileting assistance as required per student IEP Presents a professional appearance Maintains regular attendance so as to ensure continuity of instruction and/or operation of school district Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or his/her designees
