Responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with Youth ChalleNGe Academy policies. Responsible for developing a curriculum and providing educational instruction in the subject matter assigned. Plans and prepares lesson plans and related activities for individual students or to assigned classes. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students. Incorporates experiential learning teaching methods. Guides the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons. Maintains accurate, complete and up-to-date records of attendance, and test scores/grades. Assesses the accomplishments of the cadets on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. Perform related duties as required. Minimum and Additional Requirements A Bachelor's Degree with a major in the subject area to be taught and necessary education courses required to teach in South Carolina; or a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education. Experience working with high school students in an educational setting is desirable. Preferred Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree with a major in Biology, Chemistry or science related. Certified in the areas of Secondary Science. Experience working with high school students in an educational setting is desirable. Additional Comments Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations relative to the area of responsibility. Knowledge of principles of instruction, basic education principles and theories. Ability to observe and interpret behavior. Ability to analyze data and organize information. Ability to communicate effectively, written, and orally. Knowledge of principles of human growth and behavior. Ability to work in a stressful environment and keep composure. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship.
