Position Type: High School Teaching/Teacher - Science - GeneralDate Posted: 8/27/2024Location: Literacy CenterDate Available: September/20242024-2025 SY Twilight Academy - Per diem High School Science Teachers Litery Center Job Description: The Twilight Academy provides content curriculum instruction for district-wide grade 11 and 12 students who cannot currently follow their traditional school schedule due to responsibilities (working or child-care responsibilities). The structure of the day will allow for five 45-minute periods and students will register for courses in which credit is required towards graduation. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Deliver curriculum and monitor assessments, analyze results and modify instruction based on these data.
  • Participate fully in the Twilight Academy meetings/trainings as required for program implementation, including a two-day orientation on January 3rd & 4th, 2022.
  • Maintain attendance, outcome data and all data that provide evidence of successful implementation of the curriculum.
  • Prepare progress reports and report cards as required for schools, parents and the curriculum office and report information for transcripts to home school counselor.
  • Support students in identifying courses needed
  • Provide guidance to students on school and career goals.
Required Qualifications:
  • Valid Connecticut teaching certification in content area.
  • Expertise in writing instruction with an in-depth knowledge of language and written language development.
  • Provide academic assistance with focus on Executive Functioning Skills and Writing Instruction.
  • Expertise in SEL facilitation
  • Expertise in Student Success Plans
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing progress monitoring measures.
  • Proven experience in working with teams of educational professionals in collaborative settings.
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in curriculum, instruction and assessment development aligned to the CCSS.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills in working with students and their families.
  • Sensitivity, understanding and appreciation for the needs and strengths of a diverse school district and community.
