The primary focus of this position is to provide process support to team associates in the assigned work area by assisting with process related variables (I.e., line assignments, setup, supplies, flow, record keeping, tracking/reporting accuracy, etc.). The Team Leader deploys resources to ensure execution of the team's process and product is according to standard work requirements. He/she will work to make certain the team functions safely and most efficiently in meeting or exceeding production requirements. The Team Leader will monitor and verify a quality product or deliverable is sent to both internal and external customers. He/she will also assist in the training and development of team members. While the Team Leader has no positional authority and no direct reports, he/she should always lead the team to focus on safety, quality, productivity, inventory control, and personnel utilization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Review production requirements to determine needed inventory tools/supplies
for the team; have these available in advance and replenish as needed to
maintain process flow
Collaborate with the supervisor to establish work priorities, plan the work for
day of and next day (changeover, tooling, fixtures, BOM, etc.), make needed
job assignments and fill-in as needed to support efficient operations.
Conduct pre-shift meetings, quick meeting huddles, and assist with process
related and/or plant wide communications to the team as needed.
Assist team members in resolving on-the-job technical issues; lead the team to achieve efficient changeovers/start-ups resulting in meeting/exceeding
production targets.
Train operators in safe and correct work procedures using posted standard
work documents and complete associated team member skills matrix as
required.
Ensure high quality of process, product, and/or deliverable by utilizing standard work and other tools available in full support of Total Quality Management system.
Inspect, coordinate, and record work performed by the team, reporting key
performance indicators (KPIs) as instructed and escalating any identified
issues to the supervisor.
Demonstrate, promote, and lead team compliance efforts adhering to all
company, department, and/or job-related policies and procedures.
Use effective teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills to promote
positive group operations, team member relationships, and the desired cultural
development.
Refer employee relations issues to the supervisor for appropriate action.
Immediately communicate and enforce any policy violations, difficulties, known or emerging issues to the supervisor.
Other duties as assigned by the Production, Operation, or Business Unit Manager.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED is required.
A minimum of 1-3 years related work experience is required.
Two years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution
environment is preferred.
Work Keys Certificate is desired.
Ability to work overtime, off shifts, and weekends as needed.
Awareness and full compliance with all governing policies and procedures.
Computer literate with basic aptitude to learn software applications.
Demonstrated ability to multitask and work collaboratively with employees at all levels.
Demonstrated willingness for continual learning and skill development.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, verbal, and written
communication skills.
Knowledge of the process flow, set up, and each team member job function.
Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and consistently lift up to 40 pounds.
