Job Description
Position: Tech Lab 1
Location: Knoxville, TN
Shift - 2nd (2pm to 10:30 pm)
**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**
**List current duties and responsibilities**
+ Independently performs, interprets and troubleshoots laboratory procedures related to unit and/or donor suitability
+ testing and other assays as required. Develops proficiency in laboratory information systems and workflow of
+ samples.
+ Performs routine analytical testing using manual and automated methods and procedures. Analyzes test results
+ against set controls.
+ Completes maintenance and Quality Control (QC) per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Works within the
+ current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) guidelines and adheres to all regulatory standards within the Lab.
+ Shares information with internal contacts with common desire to reach a solution.
+ Follows all safety regulations, Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and rules. Maintains a clean, safe work
+ environment.
+ Operates analytical instrumentation and technical laboratory equipment. Performs and documents troubleshooting
+ and calibration of instructions. Performs and documents routine preventative maintenance of assigned instruments
+ and equipment according to established schedule and procedure. Notifies Supervisor of unresolved instrument
+ issues.
+ Other job-related duties as assigned, including training in multiple departments.
**JOB REQUIRMENTS** -
**Education**
+ Medical Lab Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT), licensure in the State of Tennessee
+ preferred
+ Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical
+ technology from an accredited institution
+ Associate degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical laboratory technology from
+ an accredited institution
**Experience**
+ Two (2) years of related experience preferred
**Additional Comments**
+ Requires intermediate to strong computer skills.
+ Communicates effectively within the department and with other lab departments?
**Working Conditions (physical & mental requirements)**
+ Shares information with internal contacts with common desire to reach a solution
+ Understands, remembers, and communicates routine, factual information
+ Ability to make decisions which have significant impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside immediate work unit
+ Ability to complete routine forms or conduct routine oral communications
+ Routinely operates multiple devices simultaneously as required per department
+ Overtime and working extended hours may be required to support the operational needs of the lab
+ Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. Could perform tasks while standing or walking up to 100% of the time.
+ Ability to lift or carry up to 40 lbs.
+ Must be able to reach, bend, kneel, squat, push and have a high level of manual dexterity
+ Potentially exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures and blood borne pathogens
+ Required to wear personal protective equipment
+ Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions
