Posting DetailsPosting Detail Information Classification Title Technical Assistant Position Number 00013000 Posting Date 07/22/2024 Closing Date 07/22/2025 Position Title Technical Assistant Employee Class Extra Help Full Time/ Part Time Part-Time FTE 0.67 Department HHS Survey Research Lab College/Unit College-Hlth & Human Sci Dean Division Academic Division Location SR 100 Link to Department Homepage Position Summary, Requirements, and Qualifications Position Summary The Technical Assistant is responsible for making outgoing, randomized phone calls to anonymous United States residents with the goal of completing 15-25 minute scripted health surveys as part of the data collection process for the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). The BRFSS is coordinated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). An eligible applicant for the Technical Assistant position must be able to make at least 45-70 phone calls per hour, and skillfully navigate the WinCati Interviewer computer program. The Technical Assistant must clearly verbally engage with all possible respondents in an effort to gain their compliance and trust so that the Best 4 Health Laboratory can complete as many surveys as possible while collecting accurate and unbiased data. The Technical Assistant clearly reads scripted generalized health related questions verbatim to the respondents. The Technical Assistant actively listens to respondent answers, and ensures each question is heard and understood properly by respondents. The Technical Assistant probes for specific answers when respondents give general or vague answers that are not able to be coded. The Technical Assistant records respondent answers into the WinCati Interviewer computer program. The Technical Assistance accurately dispositions phone call end results using WinCati Interviewer and clearly documents important information and details that occur during phone calls.Education/Experience At Least Junior Standing in Highschool.Highschool Diploma/G.E.D.
