Job Summary The technical associate primarily serves the Textile Design, Fashion Design, Visual Communication, and Surface Imaging programs in the makers labs for all programs within the School of Design and Engineering The technical associate operates various advanced digital printing systems and screenprinting systems as well as finishing equipment. Additionally, he/she provides support for applied research projects (faculty, staff and students) and education to the professional imaging industry.Essential Functions
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Maintain and service the equipment 12 advanced digital printers for textiles and non-porous printers, related finishing equipment (fabric steamer, heat press, and rotary calendar), and computer systems.
- Maintain the supplies (inventory and purchase order) for digital printing systems, including printers, software (RIP, color management), and substrates.
- Supervise & assist students in all aspects of digital printing for the Center of Excellence in Surface Imaging.
- Maintain and service screen printing systems (screen, print table, colorations, exposure unit, screen washing units, printing LABs, and finishing equipment including steamers and a washer/dryer, etc.)
- Maintain the supplies (inventory and purchase order) for screen printing systems, including screen, colorations and auxiliary chemicals, and any other supplies related to screen printing.
- Maintain mailing lists for prospective students and industry professionals in Imaging Industry (Mailchimp SI audience).
- Coordinate all communications between the labs and programs at Thomas Jefferson University, including the Textile Design, Fashion Design, Surface Imaging, and any other programs that require the centers' involvement.
- Coordinate all communications with industry clients for applied research projects.
QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience Requirements: Education:
- High school diploma required. A Bachelor's degree preferred
ANDExperience:
- 3-5 years experience in digital print/screenprint field.
- Experience in higher education preferred.
