Role: Technical Documentation Specialist

Client: DOD-Aerospace

Location: York, PA

Duration: 1-year contract w/ possible extension

Hourly Rate: up to $56/hr (W2, non-benefited)

Position Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Documentation Specialist with expertise in XML, S1000D, and SGML authoring and publishing suites. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of technical documentation standards and be responsible for creating, revising, and maintaining complex technical documentation in support of marketing, operations, repair, and maintenance.

The role requires ensuring that all tools, processes, and software code conform to company, industry, and government standards. The candidate will also be responsible for developing and modifying tools to enhance efficiency and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, revise, and maintain complex technical documentation.
  • Utilize XML, S1000D, SGML, and related publishing suites to create structured content.
  • Ensure all documentation, tools, and software comply with company, industry, and government standards.
  • Work with XML Component Content Management Systems (CCMS) to manage and publish content.
  • Develop and implement new processes to improve documentation efficiency.
  • Write and modify XML to XML or XML to text transformations using XSLT 2.0.
  • Utilize XSL-FO 1.1 functionality for formatting and publishing.
  • Apply expertise in XPath and industry standards such as MIL-STD-40051, MIL-STD-38784, and MIL-DTL-24784.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with XML, CCMS, and XSLT.
  • Proficiency with XML publishing and software tools.
  • Expertise in markup languages.
  • Experience with XML development tools such as Oxygen XML Editor and XML Spy.
  • Strong knowledge of XSLT 2.0, XSL-FO 1.1, and XPath.
  • Familiarity with military documentation standards (MIL-STD-40051, MIL-STD-38784, MIL-DTL-24784).
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
