You will bereporting to the Director of Thermal and Fluidics in the mechanical engineeringteam. Your role:Youwill drive expectations and provide technical leadership for the thermal andenvironmental subsystem within the global engineering organization Youwill be responsible for the quality of designs and work delivered to thesub-system and integration teamsYouwill schedule resources on all approved projects with the required capacity andskillsets needed to develop our next generation portfolio of productsYouwill participate in expectation setting, performance reviews, training anddevelopment plans, budgeting, resourcing, etcYouwill ensure all project deliverables are in conformance with establishedpolicies and proceduresYouwill lead technical and root cause problem solving by applying concepts,techniques and process' within the scope of thermal and environmentalmanagementYouwill drive compliance of all verification and testing procedures within projectdeliverablesYouwill constantly coordinate activities within a complex organization ofsub-system teams and functions including electrical, systems, reliability,software, firmware, etcYouwill lead continuous improvement and design optimization effortsYouwill make personnel changes in response to sub-system long range planningsessionsYouwill create procedural synergies across multiple sites and be required totravel across them on occasion (Tarrytown NY, Flanders NJ, Glasgow DE). We employ a hybrid work environment with workon site and from home based on business need.Your expertise:You possess expertise in thermal management concepts,components, and environmental engineering for highly complex instrumentationand equipmentYouhave a solid grasp of thermal engineering principles, including convection,conduction, and their practical applicationsYouare knowledgeable about energy conservation and acoustic design considerationsYou have extensive design experience with thermalhardware, including thermoelectric devices (Peltier chips), heaters, cooledcompartments, and thermal sensorsYouwill understand the value of simulation and how to close simulation gaps bydefining experiments Youwill have an extensive history of building best practices in designs,instrumentation, lab procedures, analytical tools, and documentationYouwill have experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, and uncertaintyanalysis Youhave a strong history of building effective engineering teams andorganizational structuresYoucan apply a systems mindset to team designsYouwill have built a successful network of outsource design partnersYouwill have a history of building intellectual property and innovationYouwill have a successful track record to new product development projectsYou will have exposureto Agile/Scrum methodologies Youwill have proficiency in 3D CAD and PLM systemsYouwill have working knowledge of DfSS methodologiesYou will have a strong understanding of manufacturingmethods including plastic injection molding, sheet metal, castings, machining,etc.Education and Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relatedrequired. 10-15+ years' experiencewith the design and development of complex instrumentation. Medical device preferred, but notrequired. Willing to consider otherregulated industries.Informal or formalleadership experience a plus but not necessary.Equivalent project management experience within small to mid-sizedengineering teams should apply.
