Job DescriptionA leading composites distribution company is seeking a Technical Sales Representative to build and maintain customer relationships. The ideal candidate is a skilled sales professional with experience in the composites or industrial manufacturing industry, strong technical expertise, and a proven track record of sales success. Communicating effectively, the new team member will drive revenue growth by offering value-added solutions and serving as a technical consultant while ensuring customer satisfaction and achieving profitability goals. Salary + Additional Benefits:
  • $80,000 + Uncapped Commission Structure

Location: Houston, TX Type of Position: Direct Hire Responsibilities:
  • Achieve Territory Budget Goals, encompassing Sales, GPM, and other metrics, as directed by the Sales Manager.
    • Develop and execute strategies to increase product sales to customers and convert targeted accounts with the highest GPM.
    • Create action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and estimate contact numbers.
    • Follow up on new leads and referrals generated from field activities.
  • Monitor and enhance customer satisfaction, address inventory requirements, and identify cross-selling opportunities.
    • Maintain open communication with customers, suppliers, and internal teams regarding pricing, inventory, product quality, financial stability, competition, etc.
    • Continuously educate oneself on customer needs, market trends, competition, and product knowledge.
    • Relay information about new product offerings, service opportunities, special developments, and field feedback to relevant internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Foster and sustain strategic relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams, acting as a valuable technical resource and problem solver.
    • Cultivate strong relationships through regular communication, timely follow-up, and business engagements.
    • Establish and nurture connections with DC Managers, Customer Service teams, Sales Teams, etc.
    • Address and resolve customer concerns promptly while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of products and industry trends, providing technical expertise to both customers and internal teams.
  • Identify new opportunities within the assigned sales territory, converting competitive business and strategic targets as outlined by the Sales Manager, and increasing product group share at existing accounts.
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales plan for accounts within the designated territory.
    • Strategically manage resources and expenses to optimize return on investment while organizing, expanding, and safeguarding sales within the assigned territory.
    • Apply sound sales skills and techniques to identify, approach, develop, and close new business opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Composite, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or related industries, is strongly preferred
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years related experience in the Composites industry and/or industrial manufacturing; 3 or more years Sales or Customer Service experience with a proven track record of sales success and/or technical skills
  • Knowledge of advertising and sales promotion techniques; knowledge of composites markets required
  • Required: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook); The position requires the ability to learn internal database and software system
  • Preferred: Proficiency in SAP and requires an ability to learn internal database(s) and software system(s). Familiarity with CRM concepts and solutions, particularly CRM/SAP Sales Cloud or Salesforce
  • Regional Travel Up to 75%
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with a focus on positive customer service

  • Conduct periodic reviews of work progress, addressing any issues and celebrating successes
  • Possess knowledge of practices, tasks, and tools associated with servicing existing and key client accounts in various aspects
  • Acquire understanding of specific supplier products, processes, and strategies to better serve customers
  • Exhibit broad knowledge of current products, processes, and access to supplier resources, enabling value-added solutions
