Funding Source Functions and Responsibilities Job Summary Under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology or designee, the Technical Support Specialist will maintain PC's and peripherals, troubleshoot and solve hardware problems, and monitor a local area network system. Supervisory Role The Technical Support Specialist will receive oral and written instructions from the Director of Information Technology or designee. The Technical Support Specialist may supervise support staff and student workers. Duties & Responsibilities 1. Maintain the PCS and peripheral systems. 2. Respond promptly to problems or questions regarding network and systems hardware. 3. Perform server startups, shutdown, backups and restores. 4. Provide basic user support for the network. 5. Install, repair and upgrade computer hardware. 6. Install and configure software maintenance and upgrades. 7. Perform system and software maintenance and upgrades. 8. Assist college staff in the proper use of computer equipment. 9. Implement security procedures to protect hardware and software. 10. Maintain system logs and inventory records. 11. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of student and staff records. 12. Prepare routine, special and ancillary reports as required. 13. Perform other related duties as required. Physical Requirements Additional Requirements Minimum Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. Associate's degree. 2. Demonstrated experience in computer repair, troubleshooting and networking. 3. Excellent interpersonal skills. 4. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. 5. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. Education Requirements Associate's Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.) Preferred Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. Associate's degree in Computer Science or related area. 2.Demonstrated ability to work on microcomputers and peripherals including knowledge of appropriate software. 3.Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft 2000, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft Network 4.Attend and participate in professional training seminars or workshops. 5.Self-Motivating Education Requirements Associate's Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.)
