Essential Job Functions:
* Follow standard operating procedures as well as written and verbal orders and instructions in English.
* Lift up to 50 lbs. and be in good physical condition. Standing, bending, and climbing as well as upper body and back strength required.
* Follow all company policies and procedures as stated in the company policy and safety manual including wearing safety glasses, ear protection, and steel toed shoes.
* Able to work in a noisy environment.
* Work overtime as needed.
* Actively pursue cost reduction measures.
* Perform all assigned tasks within specific time limits and company standards.
* Must be able to read a tape measure.
* Must comply with all safety regulations regarding the work area, the product and equipment. Recognize and report all safety discrepancies to your supervisor.
* Willing to develop a thorough knowledge of all aspects of this field including products, options, and uses. Willing to gain experience in all phases of the specific Maintenance area to which an individual is assigned.
* Able to learn to operate all related equipment pertaining to the position.
* Willingness to share department and company knowledge as needed.
Daily Functions:
* Pour cement.
* Perform electrical and carpentry work.
* Operate forklift on trash halls.
* Operate power sweeper.
* Operate snow and dirt moving equipment.
* Perform mechanical repairs on plant vehicles and equipment.
Potential Hazards:
* Shock: electrical charge can occur if equipment is not used correctly.
* Eye injuries: required to wear eye protection.
* Eye injuries & exposure to ultra violet rays: welding can cause damage to eyes. Required to wear an approved helmet with a lens tinted to 11 or darker per OSHA standards, or an electronic lens set to at least 11 when welding. Eye protection and face shield must be worn when sanding to prevent eye injury.
* Heat: increased temperature due to heat reflection in compartments from welding. Wear PPE at all times.
* Cuts & burns: Use caution to prevent cuts when sanding and wear PPE when welding to protect against burns.
* Trips, slips, & falls: ensure all air hoses and obstacles are kept clear of aisles. Beware of spills and surroundings.
* Heavy lifting: ask co-worker for help or use a crane or forklift operator when lifting objects over 50 lbs. Do not walk under suspended parts and be cautious of co-workers when operating cranes.
* Repetitive motion: make sure hand tools are being used properly.
