Overview Under the supervision of the Director/Manager the Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, assembling, packaging and sterilizing all instruments and equipment from all areas of the health care facility as well as the operation and care of same equipment and instruments. Responsibilities
- Cleans and decontaminates surgical instruments and other medical equipment following established policy and procedure.
- Inspects, assembles, packages and sterilizes medical devices following manufacturer's recommendations and established procedure.
- Receives and records all instruments and equipment from patient care areas for appropriate processing.
- Operates cleaning and sterilization equipment in the department according to manufacturer's recommendations and established procedure.
- Receives and maintains SPD inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Effectively communicates, both written and verbal, with co-workers.
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary to facilitate the functions of the department and hospital.
Qualifications Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses, and Certification Requirements:
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST.)
Experience:
- Six (6) months Sterile Processing experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency with Office PC's, Desktops, and Laptop software in addition to familiarity with Microsoft Office softwares to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Good interpersonal skills a must.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to pass a written and verbal proficiency review.
- Must be organized, and self-motivated with a focused attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting, standing, pushing, pulling, walking, and viewing a computer screen up to 95% of shift.
- May include some repetitive motions.
