Job Description :

Ring & DuChateau is seeking an experienced Technology and Architectural Low Voltage Systems Designer to join our team in Madison or Milwaukee, WI. This position offers the opportunity to focus on the design of cutting-edge telecommunications and low voltage building systems.

You will play a key role in specifying, designing, and coordinating the application of these low-voltage systems into a construction set of documents that allows electrical and low voltage contractors to bid and install the specified systems into newly constructed or renovated buildings. The low voltage technology systems may include Telecommunications (copper, fiber, backbone, horizontal, and IT room provisioning), fire alarm, television distribution, overhead paging, intercom, area of recue assistance, access control, closed circuit television, nurse call, infant protection, distributed antenna, electrified door hardware integration and other systems essential to modern building design. From concept to project completion, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and efficient engineering solutions.

In this role you will:

  • Interact with clients to address project needs and maintain effective communication throughout the design and construction process.
  • Research and apply applicable codes and standards, documenting findings to guide design decisions.
  • Select materials and equipment, incorporating these choices into detailed design specifications.
  • Develop comprehensive construction documents that align with client needs and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams by assigning tasks to designers and BIM technicians, ensuring efficient project execution.
  • Coordinate designs with other engineering disciplines to ensure project consistency.
  • Review product submittal drawings and provide feedback under the guidance of senior technical staff or a Project Manager.
  • Recommend project modifications and prepare change orders or revisions as needed.
  • Conduct site surveys, field observations, and generate project reports to document progress and findings.
  • Maintain organized project files and final contract documents.
  • Research and compile data from various sources, including vendors, libraries, and online resources, to inform design work.
  • Support continuous learning and improvement through technical studies and participation in professional development programs.
  • In this role you will need:

    • An associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting or related field, with 3-5 years of relevant experience in drafting and engineering design, or equivalent education and experience. Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering or electrical engineering preferred.
    • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, with experience using the latest versions of these tools.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
    • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to schedule deadlines.
    • Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks and ensure efficient project delivery.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
    • RCDD certification is preferred but not required.
