Hiring Range: $24.00 HourlyNorth Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Technology Outreach Apprentice. This is an exciting opportunity for college students interested in gaining hands-on experience in outreach, education, and IT support within state government and education systems.As a key member of NDIT's Outreach & Education Program, the apprentice will work alongside our Technology Outreach Manager to support the technology needs of state agencies, higher education institutions, K-12 schools, and community groups. The role involves building relationships, coordinating events, delivering training, and supporting talent outreach efforts to raise awareness and improve technology capabilities across the state.About the Apprenticeship program:• Apprentices must complete 32-40 hours a week of on-the-job training with NDIT while enrolled in a degree program at an accredited North Dakota college or university.• Tuition and fees for up to two years of courses are covered by NDIT as long as the apprentice maintains a grade of C or higher in all classes and meets all academic requirements of the learning institution.• Students must be pursuing an associate degree, or already have an associate degree and be pursuing a bachelor's degree.• The Apprentice will execute a two-year sign on agreement with NDIT, to commence after the apprenticeship/degree program is completed. Should the apprentice terminate employment with NDIT before the two-year period ends, the Apprentice agrees to reimburse NDIT for the amount paid to the learning institution.Key Responsibilities1. Outreach and Awareness• Build and maintain relationships with vendors, NDIT teams, and agency partners to foster collaboration and awareness of IT initiatives.• Attend and represent NDIT at planning and marketing events like CyberCon, Cyber Madness, and other relevant events, while coordinating logistics as needed• Speak and present at various conferences and workshops for K-12, higher education, and industry stakeholders2. User Functional Training• Develop and maintain training documentation, technical diagrams, and resources for staff training.• Support the Outreach Manager in SharePoint updates, design, and training for the Enterprise-wide One-stop-shop tool.• Partner with Technology Business Partners and agency representatives to assess training needs and IT awareness improvements.• Deliver training on Microsoft Office and other desktop technologies based on staff requests.• Manage and report on training platforms such as LinkedIn Learning, Udemy, and other relevant tools.3. Human Resources Activities• Work closely with the HR team, particularly the Talent Acquisition Program Manager, to support learning and development initiatives.• Assist with IT recruitment efforts, including job fairs, job shadowing programs, and apprenticeships.• Collaborate with HR and colleges to develop IT-focused coursework aimed at meeting the technology talent needs of NDIT.To succeed in this position, you will need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment in order to meet organization standards. You enjoy building relationships and talking with a variety of different people on a daily basis. You have an aptitude for problem solving and an eye for detail with a desire for learning.To be considered for this role, you must:• Currently be enrolled in, or have acceptance to, a Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or similar degree program at an accredited North Dakota College or University.• Student must reside within commuting distance of Bismarck, as in person time in office and at local events is required.• Submit proof of college acceptance with your application.
