Technology School Level TechnicianJob Goal/Summary: To serve as an essential team member for the Madison City Schools technology staff and the ACCESS Support Center, working with staff, students and community to ensure a high quality program and provide necessary network and other troubleshooting support. Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, college preferred.
  • Ability to plan and organize effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge, skills, and ability to operate computer programs and related technology.
  • A+ Certification preferred.
  • Skilled and effective in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively as an integral part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, and administrators as well as other members of the technology team.
  • Willingness to provide help-desk support for regional distance learning center requiring flexible work schedule
  • Physical dexterity, mobility, and strength to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Emotional ability to work in a fast-paced, intense environment.
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Help Desk Manager and Director of Technology Background Check Required: (Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks must not be more than ten (10) years old. Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Plans and coordinates technology integration into the 9-12 curriculum.
  • Coordinates and manages distance learning education labs for interactive videoconferencing.
  • Assists in troubleshooting, serving as help desk support, for other school districts as a part of the ACCESS Support Center.
  • Serves as Help Desk member for the ACCESS Support Center with ability to provide flexibility in hours
  • Explains and implements the Madison City Schools acceptable use policy
  • Troubleshoots technology problemsincluding network, hardware, and softwareand repairs as possible reporting repair needs through district web site.
  • Coordinates all local school technology planning and purchasing through the district director of technology.
  • Participates as a vital member of the school technology committee and the Madison City Schools technology team.
  • Reviews software for adoption into the 9-12 curriculum by the Madison City School System and for recommendation to the district technology coordinator.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Assists the district Director of Technology in gathering information necessary for grant applications and e-rate funding.
  • Coordinates gathering, collecting, and reporting local school technology inventory.
  • Plans and provides professional and staff development opportunities for faculty and staff as coordinated through the district director of technology.
  • Attends all technology meetings at the local and district level and as requested at the state level.
  • Demonstrates expertise of software applications used at the local school.
  • Assume other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
    • This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.
    • Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
    Expected Employment: 240 days/8 hrs. (full year) Evaluation: According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines. Salary Range: According to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule (Salary based on employment for complete year). Up to 10 years experience will be counted for new employees who provide documentation of full-time experience in the area of concentration.
