SummaryAssist with GIS tasks as needed such as graphic editing, line cleaning, topology building, database updating, data research, creation and maintenance. • Assist with GIS tasks as needed such as graphic editing, line cleaning, topology building, database update, and plotting using ESRI's suite of GIS products.
• Assist user departments as well as GIS department with drafting and data entry as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma, some college-level coursework in geographic information systems preferred.
• Computer aptitude required.
• One semester of a college GIS Software course or 1 year of GIS software usage being self-taught.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

• The successful Intern candidate should be familiar with vector and raster geographic data types and understand the concepts of map projections and geo-rectifications.
• The candidate should also understand the various sources of geographic information, such as paper or mylar maps and remotely sensed data including satellite and aerial imaging.
• The candidate should be familiar with digitizing methods and graphic editing concepts.

Physical Requirements

• Work at desk with personal computer for 20 hours per week.
• Occasional travel in personal vehicle to other city offices.
• Some field work may be necessary for verifying addresses and other data validation.
