Position Summary: Works as an assistant to the CNC coordinator in all aspects of multimedia production and printed media; does training of staff of up to 20 student employees; focuses on layout and graphic design for printed Ke Alaka 'i magazines as well as digital graphics for social media and other projects; works with photographers on all design and multimedia projects; and is teaching assistant for Communications courses coordinator teaches; and works with University Communications to meet CNC and UC goals.
Essential Duties/Functions: 1. (80%) Works with layout and design team to produce printed Ke Alaka'i: Tasks include: (a) Hiring and training student graphic designers in Adobe Creative Suite software; (b) Art director for monthly production of Ke Alaka`i magazine; (c) assist with graphics for video, multimedia and social media; (d) Works with graphics for projects as needed; (e) helps set and track assignments and deadlines. 2. (15%) Oversees digital photography working with lead photographer. Tasks include: (a) tracking assignments and deadlines; (b) helps manage and train photographers/videographers; (d) Helps with Ke Alaka`I Website management as needed. 3. (5%) Other tasks include: (a) Works when needed as teaching assistant to CNC coordinator; (b) works as a mentor to department staff; (c) works tracking assessment for CNC and UC goals
Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills: - Education and Work Experience: A Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
- Skill Set: Requires working knowledge of all Adobe Creative Suite programs, Final Cut, IMovie, CMS/PHP Web programs, use of digital cameras and video cameras. Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines. Must be able to teach others and work in a team setting. Must have sound reasoning and decision making skills and understand the mission of BYU-Hawaii
Approximate starting hourly rate: $16.00
