The Department of Technology offers baccalaureate degree programs in Aviation Science and Engineering Technology. The students majoring in other disciplines can minor in any of these degree programs. The Bachelor of Science degree programs are designed to prepare technical professionals for employment in industry, business, government, and education. excellence in teaching, research, services, and scholarly activities. ECSU offers the only four year Aviation Science degree program in the State of North Carolina and provides specializations in Flight Education/Professional Pilot, Air Traffic Control, Aviation Electronics (Avionics), Aviation Management, and Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). Each of these areas
of study is specifically designed to meet the requirements that have been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Description of Work
Assists both the Director of Aviation Maintenance Technician in general aircraft maintenance duties and inspections as a laborer with duties to assist in completion of Scheduled, Unscheduled and Aircraft Maintenance. Serves as an additional laborer for two-persons and multi-persons job to assist with ensuring overall safety, prevention of personal injuries, quality assurance backup to the Director and Maintenance Technician with an overall goal in expediting repairs to reduce aircraft downtime in maintenance. Reports parts usage, assist with parts procurement, stocking and inventory of parts. Participates in a weekly preventative maintenance program ensuring each aircraft is checked weekly for lubrication, fluids and tire pressures. Assists in maintaining support equipment in ready condition.

Possess the knowledge of appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations, University Academic, administrative and operational procedures and requirements.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
Non FAA Certified Apprentice level technician, normally a student of a FAA part 147 school seeking eventual certification as a Certified FAA Airframe and Powerplant technician (or an apprentice under an OJT self-paced training program seeking FAA certification) with knowledge of the basic hand tools and safety precautions used in aviation maintenance.
