Role: Groundskeeper
Location: Thomaston-Upson Grounds Facility

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate tractors, Lawnmowers, trimmers, and other related equipment and tools pertinent to the position in an effective and safe manner.
- Perform general maintenance and repair for all assigned tools and equipment.
- Perform grounds maintenance as directed by the supervisor and Director of Operations keeping grass, shrubs, trees, groundcover, etc... neatly trimmed, maintained free of litter and debris.
- Maintain walkways, parking areas, steps, and other outside areas of system property as directed
- Report any property damage or safety issues to supervisor and Director of Operations
- Exhibit a cooperative attitude and demeanor at all times in dealing with school personnel, students, fellow employees and the public
- Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
- Maintain any records required for the position in an effective and accurate manner
- Demonstrate initiative and assume responsibility for all aspects of the job responsibilities, performing routine tasks with little or no direct supervision.
- Participate in training programs to increas skills and proficiency relate to the job
- Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies and administrative directives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Hold or be eligible for required certification.
- Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- High integrity, excellent character, and good professional reputation.
- Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
- Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
- Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
- Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students particularly during emergency situations.
