From November 16, 2024 to August 31, 2025, United Laundry Services- Kona, LLC is seeking ten (10) temporary full-time laundry and dry-cleaning attendants.This position will be responsible for processing hotels, hospitals, airlines, food and beverage and other types of commercial linen to meet quality and efficiency standards.Workers typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following:
Sorts soiled linen by type and put it in laundry bags that are on que for washing.Receive and mark articles for laundry or dry cleaning by identifying code numbers or names, using hand or machine markers.Feeds washed linen into a folding or ironing machine. The folding machine folds the linen through air pressure while the ironing machine irons and folds the linen.Receives the linen at back of the folding or ironing machine and stacks the linen into a laundry bin.Manually folds and stack linen that cannot be processed by equipment.Prepares a checklist to identify the content of the laundry bin and the customer that it belongs to.Start washers, dry cleaners, driers, or extractors, and turn valves or levers to regulate machine processes and the volume of soap, detergent, water, bleach, starch, and other additives.Check for the quality of the linen that is coming out of the equipment and set aside any linen that has stains, rips, or tears.Inform the Production Supervisor on duty of any equipment issues.Meets and exceed productivity standards for each equipment.Maintains a safe and clean work environment all throughout the facility.Other duties that may be assigned by the Production Lead or Manager to meet operational needs.Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:
- Entry level position and may require supervision.
- Workers must be able to respond to basic verbal commands and follow directions.
Training, Tools & Equipment:
- On-the-job training will be provided to the workers.
- The Company will provide each worker, without charge or deposit, with all tools, supplies, and equipment that are required to perform their duty.

The worksite is accessible by public transportation. The nearest bus stop is located across the street from the worksite. The Company will offer daily transportation to and from the worksite from a centralized designated pick-up place at no cost to workers. Use of this transportation is voluntary. The Company will assist workers who are not able to return to their residence within the same day in securing board, lodging, or other facilities. Workers are informed that housing is strictly voluntary/optional and may elect to provide their own housing. Housing secured with the employer's assistance is not free of charge and employees must pay rent. The estimated rent is approximately $950.00 per worker per month (approximately $219.23 per week).Work Hours:
- One shift available- 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
- Workers are scheduled to work 5 days per week, which may include working on the weekends or during the Holidays.
- The Company offers 40 hours per week. We may offer more than 40 hours per week depending on the volume of work and other conditions. Our Company relies heavily on tourism and may affect exact working hours depending on hotel occupancy on the island of Hawaii.
Physical / Mental Requirements:
- Standing 8 to 10 hours per shift.
- Working in an industrial setting with a heat or cold environment and distracting noise levels.
- Repetitive upper body and hand motion.
- Occasional bending and twisting of upper body.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Able to push or pull carts weighing several hundred pounds.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Wage Information:
- The wage is no less than $17.09 per hour. Overtime pay starts at $25.635 per hour.
- Depending on the position that the worker will be assigned, a higher rate than $17.09 may be offered, the overtime rate will be calculated 1.5X their offered hourly rate.
- Our Company's pay period starts on a Sunday and ends on a Saturday. A single work week will be used to compute the wages due.
- Our payroll period is weekly, and workers are paid by check on the following Thursday after the end of the pay period.
- Rate increases and/or bonuses may be offered at the Company's discretion, based on individual factors such as performance, skill, and tenure.
- The Company will make deductions from the worker's paycheck as required by law. Workers may elect to participate in our benefits plans such as medical, drug, vision, dental, FSA and other voluntary insurance plans, in which a share in premium may be deducted.
- The Company will deduct for the reasonable fair market value cost of rent, and utilities based on number of occupants for workers who voluntarily elect to live in employer-offered housing (Cost TBD).
- Any type of deductions will be preauthorized in writing.
Other Terms:
- The Company will pay in advance or will reimburse workers in the first workweek of all government-mandated and visa related fees (excluding passport fees). For non-local workers (ex. residing outside normal commuting distance), the Company will reimburse inbound travel cost at the 50% point in the contract (unless paid in advance). Inbound travel includes travel costs from the worker's permanent residence or place of recruitment, a daily meal subsistence (based on rates required by law, currently at $15.88 per day minimum or $59.00 per day maximum for workers with acceptable receipts) and reasonable lodging cost if applicable. Travel reimbursements based on the least cost common carrier rate.
- The Company will provide or pay outbound travel costs upon completion of the contract period or early dismissal, except where the worker has subsequent employment.
- The Company guarantees to offer hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total contract period, beginning with the workers' first workday and ending on the contact end date or any extension thereof. The Company may count all hours worked, as well as any hours offered within the standard work schedule that a worker chooses not to work, up to the maximum number of daily hours in the job order. Workers who voluntarily abandon employment are not entitled to payment for outbound travel costs or full three-fourths period guarantee described above.
