Req Id: 34628 Job Title: Staff Therapist - College of Veterinary Medicine City: West Lafayette Job Description: Job SummaryPersons in the Staff Therapist role will need to bring progressive and robust generalist clinical skills/experience. This position will serve as an embedded staff therapist within the College of Veterinary Medicine. The staff therapist will serve as a resource for students, trainees, faculty, and staff in the College of Vet Med. They will provide therapy services via a variety of modalities to Vet Med students and trainees affiliated with the college. Staff contributes to clinical service delivery through the provision of individual, couples, and group therapy; on-call/walk-in services; triage; and substance use, abuse, and dependence services. Staff also provide outreach and consultation to students, trainees, faculty, and staff. Services will include providing workshops and trainings to college community to support mental health and well-being priorities for the college. Two evenings per week will be required (with commensurate mornings off) to support Vet Med initiatives and increase accessibility of services. Services will be provided in person and onsite. What We Are Looking ForEducation and Experience: Required:
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling & counselor education, or related; OR
  • Master's degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling & counselor education, or related
    • Will accept MSW from an accredited program, licensed as an LCSW, LMHC or LMFT or related
  • A minimum of two (2) or four (4) years of general therapy experience respective to degree
  • Current license or immediately license eligible
  • Must obtain license as a Health Service Provider in Psychology in the state of Indiana no later than six months after start date
Preferred:
  • One (1) year of general therapy experience
  • Interest in and experience serving underserved communities (including racial/ethnic underserved communities, such as our African-American, Latinx, Asian-American, Native American students, and those defined by other dimensions of identity)
Skills: Required:
  • Provision of group and individual therapy and ability to develop and teach seminars
  • Strong generalist therapy skills
  • Ability to evaluate and diagnose clients, make decisions about the urgency of clients' problems, and design and implement appropriate therapy treatment interventions foundational
  • Ability to manage individual caseload while also incorporating new clients in an ongoing manner
  • Skills and interest in outreach and consultation
  • Confidentiality and adherence to ethical practices and ability to adhere to relevant ethical and legal standards of HIPAA, relevant professional bodies, and state boards
  • Independent judgment and discretion
  • Values around social justice and interest in multicultural counseling
  • Must relate well to students, trainees, staff, faculty and other members of the University community
  • Specific interest in one or more of the following clinical areas and communities: interest and experience serving diverse clients and communities; substance use, abuse, and dependence issues; eating disorders; international students; and/or working with underserved populations, in general
