Location Durham, NCRole OverviewThe Temporary Polymer Analytical Technician is a member of the Research and Development team. This individual will interact with all members of the R&D team as well as stakeholders in the sales and feedstock procurement team. This individual must have the expertise to operate several polymer analytical instruments and the willingness to lean more. This position is a temporary position that will be hired through a local employment agency and will not be a direct employee of PureCycle Technologies, Inc.Essential Responsibilities & DutiesPerform analytical testing on recycled and purified plastic to support R&D projectsAssist in the development of new analytical techniques as neededManage long-term research projects and effectively organize dataKeep an accurate record of tests performed and samples analyzedAssist in lab management activities including waste management, resupply of consumables and shipping/receivingProactively maintain lab processes and equipment to ensure reliability and consistency.Troubleshoot lab equipment as required to maintain operation.Follow all PCT safety processes to create a world-class EHSQ environment.Basic Qualifications (Required) B.S. degree in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Material ScienceMust have the highest standards of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.Individual must be self-motivated, a team player and task orientated.Must be capable of working in a structured environment where activities are governed by written procedures.Must be proficient in basic computer applications such as email, Microsoft Office, and web-based programs.Good math, reading, writing, and verbal skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees.Ability to comprehend and accurately interpret safety and training materials.Ability to work independently without direct supervision.Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience with DSC, FTIR, TGA, NMR, polymer rheology, cryogrinding or extrusionPrevious experience with plastic mechanical property testingPrevious experience in a research labProven track record of contributing to peer-reviewed publicationsKnowledge of industry certifications beneficial (ISO 9001)
