Position Purpose: Assists Operators in performing the duties associated with Terminal Operations. Primary Responsibility:
- Performs the duties of loading/unloading tank trucks provided DOT training is complete.
- Assist in performing other duties as required.
- Performs general housekeeping duties as required.
- Continues to train and becomes accustomed to the duties required of this position.
- Performs duties of the Entry Level position at the discretion of the Terminal Manager.
Additional Responsibilities:
- The employee in this position must work shift work and be available for overtime work when required.
- The employee in this position must attend and participate in training courses, drills, and meetings as required.
- This position requires the employee to work with and near various petroleum and chemical products, and participate in emergency response activities. (If required)
- Comply with all applicable Local, State, and Federal Safety Regulations, Company Policies, Operating Procedures, and Company Rules and Guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read, comprehend and perform English written instructions and procedures.
- Ability to comprehend and perform oral instructions.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise oral and written reports.
- Mathematical proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in duties as demonstrated by oral, written, or job performance measure testing.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks for long periods of time in various types of weather.
- Ability to perform job requirements while wearing various types of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Physical Abilities:
- Must be able to climb stairways and get in and out of vessels and containers of various size and configuration
- Must be able to climb ladders
- Must be able to walk long distances at one time
- Must be able to work at various heights
- Must be able to squat and bend numerous times daily
- Must be able to lift substantial weight on a routine basis
Working Conditions: Outside:
- Permit issuance and many other job activities are conducted outside in all kinds of weather
- Walking out pipelines and other systems for permitting purposes, sometimes for considerable distances
- Driving golf carts as a part of daily activities
- Walking down the terminal doing safety audits and equipment checks
- This position must be able to work at ground level as well as at elevation on different structures such as platforms, catwalks, and tank tops
Inside:
- We have meetings, prepare paper work, conduct orientations, file permits, etc.
- Perform computer-based work (email, training, etc...)
- Conduct phone business with vendors and coworkers
Safety:
- Understands that safe work performance is a primary job requirement.
- Follows all applicable LBC safety rules and policies.
- Is accountable for and maintains in good condition any safety equipment issued to them.
- Acts as safety observer in daily job activities; reports unsafe situations to supervisor as soon as possible. Takes immediate action to correct safety deficiencies or unsafe behaviors as appropriate.
- Acts as security observer in daily job activities; takes appropriate actions in response to suspicious personnel in or around the facility.
- Attends safety meetings and other safety-related training sessions; completes computer-based training modules as assigned.
- Understands what action(s) they are to take in an emergency.
