Job DetailsJob LocationKeller - WADescriptionCLOSING DATE: Open Until FilledPOSITION: TERO Commissioner SALARY: STIPENDREPORTS TO: Colville Business Council LOCATION: Nespelem, WA Basic Functions: The Commission shall be composed of four (4) regular members, one residing in each reservation district, and one (1) alternate member; serving four-year terms Commission members shall be appointed by the Colville Business Council The incumbent of this position is empowered by delegated authority from the Colville Business Council to carry out the provisions of the Law & Order Code, Title 10-1 and 10-3, and propose regulations pursuant to Law & Order Code Title 2-4 Administrative Procedures Act, and submit proposals to the Colville Business Council of their actions The commission will hold public hearings on the Tribal employment rights issues The Commission's subpoena powers do not include the power to compel attendance, testimony, or documents of the Colville Business Council. The Commission shall retain all rights and privileges of Sovereign Immunity of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Training:
- High School Diploma or equivalent AND substantial education or experience in any of the areas: Policy Enforcement, Accounting, and Public Administration.
- Must be an enrolled Colville Tribal Member.
- Must reside within the Keller District.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Requires knowledge of Colville Tribal Law & Order Code.
- Requires knowledge of TERO Title 10.
- Requires knowledge of Due Process.
- Requires some accounting experience and the ability to read financial reports and budgets.
- Must be willing and able to work irregular hours and participate in TERO Commission regular or special sessions.
- Must have reliable transportation and able to drive in adverse weather conditions.
- Requires the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written format.
- Requires the ability to maintain effective working relationships with TERO personnel, Tribal Council, and others.
- Requires the ability to maintain STRICT confidentiality as it relates to TERO and EEOC rules and regulations.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
- Appointment is contingent upon successfully clearing drug testing and background check.
- TERO Commissioners may occupy non-elective and non-managerial Tribal positions and may engage in normal work related business.
Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver's license and be eligible for the Tribes' Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances.
