ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with engineering and quality groups to define, document, perform, and interpret tests for advanced aerospace products. The role requires hands-on experience in testing and analysis to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and aerospace standards.
- Use inspection devices such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators to verify product compliance with engineering drawings and aerospace specifications.
- Program and edit computerized test machine software with minimal assistance.
- Perform and assist in training for the setup and mechanical testing of samples, including the operation of computerized screw and electric-driven test machines.
- Monitor the operation of testing equipment, troubleshoot issues, and ensure quality results.
- Operate all test lab equipment, including environmental chambers, ovens, and salt spray chambers.
- Document test programs through comprehensive records, including pictures, notes, tables, and computer-generated data.
- Identify functional problems, suggest resolutions, analyze test data for trends, and troubleshoot failures.
- Prepare clear and concise reports of findings and communicate results to stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and attention to detail.
- Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other CAD software is a positive asset but not required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly.
- Familiarity with commonly used testing concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret aerospace engineering drawings, procedures, and written information.
- Capable of computing averages, standard deviations, ratios, and percentages with minimal assistance.
- Able to draw and interpret statistical charts and graphs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Experience operating manual and powered hand tools.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field from an accredited four-year university.
- One or more years of prior experience in a related field, industry, or work environment is a positive asset but not required.
