Carpenters are skilled artisans who construct, erect, install and renovate structures made of wood and other materials. This role is responsible for designing, building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, furniture, and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel. Carpenters read and interpret blueprints for projects daily and contribute to the construction and maintenance of strong and long-lasting buildings and products. Carpenters are also eligible for our skill-based pay program! This compensation program allows our Part & Full-Time Maintenance Team to increase their rate of pay by developing their knowledge and skills at our parks through the completion of certifications and cross-training in other departments. The Essential Functions of the Carpenter are as follows: •Practice safe work skills that comply with policies, regulations, and procedures •Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications •Prepare formwork and place concrete •Install and repair drywall, siding, cabinets, plumbing fixtures, doors, windows, and lights, concrete block and brick walls, metal and wood fences and gates, stone, asphalt, and concrete pavement •Repair water lines, fences, and roadways at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari •Use heavy equipment, power tools, and hand tools •Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications •Learn new tasks and skills at the park and attend company-sponsored training off-site, if needed •Perform housekeeping tasks to keep your workplace clean •Document repair and maintenance activities and closeout work orders •Other duties as assigned by management staff Requirements •High school diploma or GED; Associate degree in related field preferred •Technical studies preferred •2-3 years of carpenter experience •Ability to use hand and power tools •Ability to use math to perform work using scaled drawings •Ability to operate a skid steer loader, man lift, and forklift, use hand power tools such as electric drills, saws, grinders, hoists, impact wrenches, etc. •Ability to climb structures to inspect, maintain, and repair •Ability to troubleshoot and repair various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems •Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language •Ability to clearly write daily inspection and maintenance reports in the English language •Ability to properly use a respirator and pass a full-face respirator fit test, if needed •Ability to wear PPE •Dependable attendance record •Valid Driver's License •Ability to work full-time and weekends •Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening Holiday World & Splashin' Safari offers competitive wages and benefits, including a generous 401(k) match, bonus program, PTO accrual program, tuition discounts and reimbursements, free season passes and tickets, and much more!
