OverviewThe Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) is seeking to hire a part-time Therapeutic Activities Aide for a position within their Activities Division. This temporary position will be working on the Dementia unit and will be responsible for setting up and leading a variety of recreational programs for the residents of the VVH. The position will assist residents as they attend events that are supported and funded by various community service organizations, such as the fishing derby, car show, picnics, and many others. Aides will be responsible for assisting with progress reports and other daily paperwork and/or data entry.The hours for this position are 11:00 am to 7:30 pm. This is a part-time position working approximately 24 hours per week including every other weekend and holidays. Environmental FactorsActivities are performed in an institutional setting involving elderly and/or disabled residents. Direct interaction with residents is extensive, leading to potential exposure to infectious disease or physical injury. The activity schedule may require evening and weekend duties. A valid motor vehicle operator's permit is required for the transport of residents to and from activity events. Good physical health is required for rendering physical assistance to and transporting and moving residents.
Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred QualificationsPast experience working in a nursing home, healthcare setting or with older adults.Past experience facilitating therapeutic activities with groups of any age.
