Therapeutic Activities Specialist (Art/Music) develops, implements, and coordinates recreational and related activities to complement care, treatment, rehabilitation and social and psychological adjustment. Supports Hospital's mission to provide the highest quality care by complying with regulatory guidelines, meeting agency standards, and obtaining appropriate certification.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Uses art/music as a creative process resulting in exploration of resident's feelings, reconciling emotional conflicts, fostering self-awareness, and managing behavior and social skills.
2. Holds a caseload and ensures all activity documentation and supporting care plans support registrant's treatment plan and are completed in a timely fashion.
3. Serves as a member of the Care Plan Team, as needed, relaying information from team meetings to the other staff members.
4. Provides other department staff with guidance and support. May supervise interns/students as directed by department Lead.
5. Develops and adheres to the unit based activities calendar based on the individual needs of the residents.
Formal education required:
Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis on music, art, recreation or other related field
Certification in related field required.
Previous experience required:
Two to five years experience working in a pediatric therapeutic program or related field.
Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
