Job DescriptionXavier University's Office of Counseling Services is seeking a 10-month Staff Therapist (August to May). This position will provide direct clinical mental health services to students including individual therapy, group therapy and psychoeducation. Provides assessment, triage services and supervision to psychological and counseling trainees, on call emergency coverage (in rotation of other staff therapists) and provide consultation and outreach services to departments, groups or organizations on campus.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide direct counseling services to Counseling Services Center Students:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students.
- Provide referral to appropriate resources on and off-campus when indicated.
- Participate in consultation activities within the Health and Wellness Center.
- Respond as needed to student or other campus mental health emergencies.
- Provide clinical on-call service for Counseling Services as needed to student and other campus mental health emergencies.
- Consultation and collaboration with psychiatrist, nurses, and physicians to enhance student care.
Outreach and education:
- Provide consultation and outreach services to departments, groups, and organizations on campus.
- Consults and advises faculty, staff, and administrators concerning problem identification, response, and resolution techniques for psychologically troubled students.
- Provides training to student leaders regarding basic counseling skills, problem identification and resolution or referral.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree required. Doctorate preferred.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Valid and current licensure in Ohio in clinical counseling, social work, or psychology.
- Demonstrated expertise in assessing and treating a wide range of psychopathology.
- Demonstrated expertise in treating and managing mental health emergencies.
- Preference given to candidates who have or are working toward independent licensure in Ohio.
