IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION CANDIDATE MUST HAVE FILED FOR THE CLERICAL ASSOCIATE BRIDGE EXAM, OR BE SERVING PERMANENTLY IN THE TITLE, OR BE ELIGIBLE UNDER THE 55A PROGRAM. JOB DESCRIPTION: Under supervision of the Deputy Director of Payroll and Timekeeping, with latitude for independent judgment, performs moderately difficult timekeeping and clerical duties at the Staten Island Ferry. Performs related work. EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL TASKS: Duties include coding, batching, sorting and preparing documents for data entry into CityTime, the City's timekeeping systems, and PMS, the City's Payroll Management System. Maintains filing system for both active and inactive staff. Reviews PMS reports to ensure that information is accurate and complete. Track and process workers' compensation cases and related documentation. Track and monitory absence control system. Monitoring disbursement of checks and identifying and resolving discrepancies, conferring as necessary, in order to ensure appropriateness of payment to prevent over and under payments. Answer employee inquiries. Use computer systems and applications to perform routine tasks. Maintains records. Performs various other related tasks in the Administrative unit. PREFERRED SKILLS: 1. Experience performing timekeeping and payroll functions. 2. Ability to analyze and organize data. 3. Thorough knowledge of CityTime and Payroll Management System (PMS). Minimum QualificationsQualification Requirements A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience. Skills Requirement Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
