Tool and Die Maker Machinist - Silgan Containers Corporation : Job Details

$2000 Hiring BonusEssential Job Functions:* Work form blueprint, sketch, sample parts or verbal instructions* Use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometer, scale, vernier caliper, height, depth gauge, telescope gauge, dial indicators, comparator, etc. Use Machinist's hand tools such as scrapers, chisels, files, etc., to obtain proper fits. Scrape surfaces to re-align or rebuild machines* Overhaul various machines and equipment, recommending and making all necessary repairs; making and replacing worn and/or broken parts and assemble as necessary for proper operation when this level of expertise is required for the job* Perform bench work such as filing, peening, fitting and polishingJob Requirements:* Knowledge of advance shop mathematics; the ability to use charts and table as found in handbooks* Knowledge of all metals sufficient to select a suitable type of steel for tools* Required a knowledge of the working and hardening properties of metal, such as aluminum, brass, cast and wrought iron as various steels* Strong team and communication skillsExperience/Education:* High School Diploma or equivalent* One of the following; Technical Degree, Journeyman Status, or equivalent experience* A minimum of 2-5 years machinist experience in a manufacturing environment* Above average analytical and troubleshooting skills* Previous experience with the use of standard bolts, screws, threads and tapersPhysical Requirements:* Ability to safely lift up to 100 pounds.LIMITATIONS AND DISCLAIMERThe above job description is meant to describe the general nature and level of work being performed; it is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required for the position.All job requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.
